Halla Cement’s risk assessment capabilities have once again been officially recognized. On September 22, the company received the Excellence Award—the highest honor in the Manufacturing & Other (Large-scale) category—at the “2025 Risk Assessment Best Practice Presentation Contest (Seoul–Gangwon Regional Round)” held at the Seoul Southern Regional Office of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA). Following its Excellence Award in the 2023 competition, this year’s achievement holds even greater significance, as it reflects the company’s systematic risk assessment management based on “fundamentals and principles,” as well as its efforts to foster a strong safety culture through communication and education.
Selected for Excellence Award in Manufacturing & Other Category at Seoul–Gangwon Regional Competition
Recognized for Efforts to Eliminate Risk Factors and Address Near-Miss Incidents
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) organizes the Risk Assessment Best Practice Presentation Contest to identify and promote various case studies that have effectively prevented serious industrial accidents through the practical implementation of risk assessments, thereby supporting the establishment of a “self-regulated preventive safety system” in workplaces across Korea. The contest serves as a platform where KOSHA evaluates companies’ risk assessment capabilities, with participants assessed separately by industry sector. Now in its third year, the “2025 Risk Assessment Best Practice Presentation Contest” selected 56 organizations, including Halla Cement, as Excellence Award recipients across seven regional divisions nationwide. The competition is conducted in four stages: (1) regional preliminary screening, (2) regional competition, (3) national preliminary screening, and (4) the national final round. This year’s event was held at the regional competition stage.
Halla Cement previously ranked first in the Manufacturing & Other (Large-scale) category during the preliminary screening conducted by the Gangwon Eastern Regional Office, earning eligibility to advance to the regional competition. With this Excellence Award, the company has also secured qualification for the national preliminary round. At the presentation, Mr. Taeyoung Park from the Safety and Health Management Office delivered a presentation highlighting ▲Halla Cement’s three-step safe work procedure ▲risk assessment reflecting near-miss incidents ▲human error self-check notebooks ▲and efforts to eliminate risk factors through administrative controls. His presentation received strong evaluations from the judging panel. Currently, 14 companies in the manufacturing sector have advanced to the national preliminary round. Of these, four companies that pass the evaluation will advance to the final national competition. If Halla Cement advances past the preliminary round, it will compete with the remaining three companies at the final national stage scheduled for December. Meanwhile, Halla Cement has actively promoted risk assessment and safety and health activities in collaboration with its partner companies, and was selected as an excellent company under the Win-Win Cooperation Program hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2023. The company continues to strengthen its safety culture, aiming to achieve “World-Class Safety Culture Level 4” together with its partners.
