“I passed my barista certification thanks to Halla Cement, and this year I even got to learn Nanta.”
2In September 2024, Halla Cement’s Okgye plant received a letter from a participant at the Gangneung Center for Independent Living for the Intellectually Disabled, supported by the Cement Industry Social Contribution Foundation. The writer expressed gratitude for the foundation’s continued support. With this support, the individual obtained a barista certification and joined a coffee truck program. He also began learning Nanta and now dreams of becoming part of a cultural arts group.
Leading the Way in Social Inclusion for People with Intellectual Disabilities
Since 2022, the foundation has supported the local center, helping expand programs such as barista training, craft activities, exhibitions, and cultural education. Over two years, nine participants earned certifications and gained new opportunities. The center described this support as a “lighthouse,” helping individuals with intellectual disabilities move forward and become part of society.
